The discovery and development of vast offshore oil fields, and crucially the super-giant North Field gas reservoir in the 1970s, transformed Qatar into a global energy leader.

During this time, extensive exploration and development of hydrocarbon resources, producing billions of barrels of oil and trillions of cubic feet of natural gas, have been central to the remarkable development and economic prosperity of Qatar. This created a sophisticated national energy industry, which expanded from upstream production to refining, petrochemicals, and the world-leading Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) sector based in Ras Laffan Industrial City. Several generations of Qataris have gained experience by working directly or indirectly with the Company, and this legacy of human capital development continues at present.

Based on this rich past, Arabian International Petroleum Corporation is now looking forward to its future, focusing on pioneering new technologies for enhanced recovery and efficiency in existing fields, continued development of the North Field expansion projects, and industry best practices to safely and sustainably produce hydrocarbons.
